For insurance purposes, our Reinstatement Cost Assessment service offers a report that gives
your buildings the correct amount of coverage. Preventing underinsurance or overpaying for
premiums is crucial.
Insurance companies demand an expert evaluation of a building’s rebuilding expenses under the
scenario of complete destruction. To account for evolving building construction costs and any
modifications made to the building since the last assessment, a professional, independent
evaluation of the reinstatement costs of the building is required. Every three years, this
assessment is usually examined in-depth, frequently for a portfolio of several buildings.
The “day one reinstatement” figure, which is the equivalent of a fixed price competitive tender
from a suitable contractor for works to begin on the first day of the insurance period along with
appropriate allowances for historic features, demolition and other costs and all project fees, is
the foundation upon which our assessments are prepared.
A schedule of floor areas and an outline technical description of the building are included in our
Reinstatement Cost Assessment report. We also offer guidance on total construction time to
help your insurer with their inflation projections. Our reports facilitate insurance broker analysis
of potential losses and values at risk, assisting you in negotiating your insurer’s premium.
